Every five years Buncombe County Schools develops a Strategic Plan that will guide the direction of the school system for the coming five years.
The Plan is designed to set long-term goals, identify some of the most significant strategies that will be used in reaching those goals, and provide specific evaluation measurements to be used in determining whether the goals have been reached.
The 2012-2017 Buncombe County Schools Strategic Plan was developed, reviewed and revised with input from educators, students, parents, members of the community, and the Board of Education.
It is designed for actual use by professional educators; as such, the Plan out of necessity contains many specific details and measurements that may make it appear complex. The plan was approved by the Board of Education at their regular meeting held on April 12, 2012.
The public is invited to examine the final version of the 2012-2017 Strategic Plan available at the link below.
NOTE: In addition to participating in the system-wide Strategic Plan, individual schools, through their School Improvement Teams, develop customized plans on a more frequent basis, with specific goals, strategies and tactics for implementation at the school level. School Improvement Plans are posted on each individual school website.
