Student Enrollment

It all starts here.

Ready to enroll your student? This is where it all begins.

We're thrilled you've chosen Buncombe County Schools for your child's education. We take this responsibility seriously and will be with you every step of the way, from the first day of kindergarten, all the way through graduation day. You likely have a few questions and we'd like to discuss them with you. This is why there are tours, open houses, and Enrollment Appointments at all of our schools. (If you haven't already toured your school, we'd love to show you around.)  We'd also like to welcome and congratulate our new kindergarten families as we begin this learning journey together. Now, let's get started!

The four step enrollment process.

Here are a few things to know...
• Per state law, only a legal parent or guardian may enroll a student.
• Enrollment Age Requirements (5 years of age on or before August 31 of that school year)
• School Kindergarten Enrollment Dates

First, you'll need to find your local school. We have a few tools to help you out:
• Search for your school based on your home address with our School District Mapping Tool.
• Alternately, call the BCS Transportation Department at 828-232-4220.
• Here's a directory of all of our schools, along with an interactive map.
• Learn more about School District Assignment.

If you haven't already done so, you can set up a tour with your future school. We'd love to meet you and your child, and show you around!

Switching schools or joining us from another district?
We're glad you've chosen BCS! Learn more about transfers and reassignments, including changes such as switching locations within Buncombe County Schools, or entering Buncombe County from a neighboring school district.

Before your registration appointment, you'll need to complete the Online Enrollment process. This will make your registration appointment faster, and save quite a bit of paper. Currently, Online Enrollment uses a service called InfoSnap, and you'll need to set up an account using either an email address or a permanent phone number.

To get started, choose one of the following:
Online Enrollment (English)
Online Enrollment (Spanish)
