Data Team
The Buncombe County Schools data team works to facilitate the effective use of data at the school and district levels. An important tool we use is the Data Analysis Sequence, a model to guide data conversations and strategic decision-making throughout Buncombe County Public Schools.

In addition to frequent informal discussions among team members, the data team meets every other Monday at 9:00 a.m. to discuss current data issues and address questions and needs generated by school and district staff. While the semi-monthly meetings generally involve only team members, we are open to having other interested stakeholders attend and participate in our examination of a particular topic. For example, we have invited high schools to send a representative to a meeting where we examined the ABC_TARGET files generated by the NCDPI Division of Accountability Services. These files contain predictions of student performance on the current year's tests based on the student's performance on tests taken in previous years. Those attending learned how the files are formatted and how the data within the files may be manipulated to evaluate performance. To arrange to attend any data team meeting, please contact any team member.

The members of the data team are:

Stephen Earwood, Director of Testing & Accountability, (828) 225-7360

Gus Jerdee, Middle/High Schools Data Coach, (828) 255-5952
