Week in Review



Students from Buncombe County are eager to showcase their talents for the whole state this November! Each year, a handful of musical ensembles are chosen to perform at the prestigious NC Music Educators Association’s annual conference. This year, two of these musical groups proudly hail from Buncombe County Schools and in the coming days both Roberson High and Cane Creek Middle schools will be sending students to perform in Winston-Salem. >> Read the full story
Term Ends for Two on Board of Education
This month's Board of Education meeting was eventful as numerous students and staff were honored, as well as two outgoing board members: Dusty Pless, At-Large Representative, and Chip Craig, Owen District Representative. Mr. Pless served for sixteen total years, and Mr. Craig served for eight.

Made in America: Owen's Marching Debut
At the November 3 Owen High football game, the school's 68-member marching band debuted its special performance of Made in America, a performance focused on the woodworking, textile, and metal industries.

Thanks to Charter Communications, four student artists from T.C. Roberson High School were awarded $1,000 in college scholarships as part of an artwork competition on display at the Charter administrative offices!

Estes Pointillism Lesson
In this WLOS video feature, students at Estes Elementary were given a special art lesson as part of their YMCA after school program. They learned about pointillism, which is a painting technique in which small dots are used to form a larger image.
