Have you ever seen a drummer play upside down?
At A.C. Reynolds High, the cheerleaders and drum line worked together to create a show to remember during an evening game. While the school's Marching Band shared this video in January on Facebook, it really gained traction this past week, with over 5,000 views to date. Thanks, Rockets, for sharing this entertaining video!

ACS Joins BCS in Seeking State Action
Asheville City Schools have joined Buncombe County Schools in seeking state action regarding the new class size resolution. For #BCS, the mandate would require an additional ~80 classroom teachers at a cost of roughly $4.5 million, but does not provide a means of funding this increase.

300 Wins for Warriors' Coach Rhoney
When the Warriors' boys basketball team finally toppled Asheville High in overtime last night (74-69), Coach David Rhoney of Clyde A. Erwin High School walked away with his 300th career win!

The Leader in Me (Video)
Learn all about how students are learning to lead in this video commissioned by the Buncombe County Schools Foundation, featuring students from around #BCS. The Leader in Me program aims to teach 21st century life and leadership skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.

Enka Middle's Young Scientists
Congratulations to all BCS students who participated in the Western Region Science Fair this week! At Enka Middle School, 15 students traveled to the WNC competition by placing at a school level, and 4 students earned regional awards.

Safe Sports Schools
BCS is a fantastic place to be a student-athlete! We celebrate our schools who have earned and maintained the National Athletic Trainers' Association Safe Sports School Award which recognizes secondary schools that provide safe environments for student athletes, and reinforces the importance of providing the best level of care, injury prevention, and treatment.

Koontz' Living Wax Museum
Last week, 6th graders at C.T. Koontz Intermediate held a Living Wax Museum! They researched people who advocated for human and animal rights (For example, MLK, Jr., Abraham Lincoln, Betty White, and Jane Goodall) from the past and present, put together a presentation, then spent the day as that person.
