BOE Celebrates Bus Driver Appreciation Week
To celebrate #LoveTheBus Month and National Bus Driver Appreciation Week, all BCS Board of Education (BOE) representatives rode buses with students and drivers in their districts. Learn about their experiences in this popular post from last week, as well as view photos along their routes!

Reynolds Senior Honored By Barack Obama
Will Baldwin, a Buncombe County 4-H member and senior at A.C. Reynolds High School, had a vision for an unused grassy patch of land not far from his school and home- a vision that would help people in need and get the attention of a former President!

100 Days of School
Students across BCS got creative in celebrating the 100th day of the school year! At schools like Black Mountain Primary and West Buncombe Elementary, students went all out with 100-themed activities and decorations. They even made their own costumes, dressing like century-old scholars! We love the photos and effort these students put into making learning fun!

Erwin Girls Win MAC Basketball Championship
On Friday night, the Clyde A. Erwin High School Warriors girls basketball team stormed the court and took home the title for the Mountain Athletic Conference! Congrats to these accomplished student athletes, as well as other BCS teams that competed for conference titles, including the boys team at Erwin High, Owen High, and Roberson High.

Global Education at Oakley Elementary and Early College
At the Superintendent's Advisory Council meeting last week, students from Oakley Elementary showed the council why their Spanish Dual Language program is so special. Buncombe County Early College students also presented the details of their recent educational trip to China! Superintendent Baldwin stressed the importance of programs like these and wants to expand the number of opportunities available to BCS students.

Owen and Enka Middle Share Wrestling Title
This year, Enka Middle School shared the French Broad Conference Championship with Charles D. Owen Middle School. For Enka, this is their sixth consecutive conference title, and they earned first place in the 2017 French Broad Conference Tournament.

In 1967, Louis Armstrong recorded "What a Wonderful World." On Valentine's Day, these inspiring and charming young singers at Haw Creek Elementary recorded their class singing this class song for you!

Oakley Elementary shared a fantastic photo album from their living "wax" museum this week. We love the smiles, history, and costumes!

Not Enough Snow for W.D. Williams Elementary
With few snowflakes to enjoy this winter season, the tech-savvy kids at W.D. Williams decided the to employ their 3-D printer to solve the problem. We love the photo they shared on the school's Facebook page!
