School Board Tours New Teacher Campus
As reported by the Asheville Citizen-Times: "Buncombe County school board members Thursday got a look inside one of the 24 apartments that are part of a new teacher housing apartment complex near Erwin High School. The new complex is slated to open later this year. It will provide a more affordable housing option for Buncombe County and Asheville City teachers."

Teacher Feature: Will Thrasher, Nesbitt Discovery Academy
In this week's Teacher Feature, we'll meet Martin L. Nesbitt, Jr. Discovery Academy's robotics and engineering teacher Will Thrasher! Whether his students are constructing model houses or building and programming robots, Mr. Thrasher says it’s amazing to see his students succeed in building a machine from scratch and programming it to perform a specific function.

Buncombe Board to Vote on Energy Saving LED Project
On Tuesday, the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners will vote on a proposal that would start funding for a LED light fixture project in Buncombe County Schools that, according to #BCS Energy Manager Alesha Reardon, would save nearly $1 million per year ongoing.

Students to Host World-Famous Violinist
Strings students are eagerly awaiting this month's visit of world-famous violinist Midori, who will be joining them in classrooms during a prestigious week-long residency program in partnership with the Asheville Symphony Youth Orchestra!

This week, the Jets of Enka Intermediate School had a sneak peak of an internationally-known gymnastics team, as well some extra encouragement to live a healthy lifestyle! Spoiler: It involved a few back-flips!

A.C. Reynolds High School hosted their annual Curriculum Showcase, where they show off the great things happening in their classrooms. Current parents were invited, as well as parents of A.C. Reynolds Middle and Cane Creek Middle students, to see what classes are available at the high school, and to meet teachers.
