This month, we are celebrating our teachers! With Substitute Teacher Appreciation Week back-to-back with Teacher Appreciation Week, there is plenty of encouragement to go around. Join us in taking a moment to thank the educators in our lives. Meanwhile, learn more about what makes a great substitute teacher from this article on Anne Alley of Leicester Elementary, and see how staff are being honored at Emma Elementary! At Fairview Elementary, Caitlin Sullivan (pictured above) is another great reminder of how fortunate we are to have such qualified and dedicated teachers in Buncombe County Schools!

Prom-posal to Prom King and Queen at A.C. Reynolds
WLOS reports: "From prom-posal to prom night, a special young couple reigns supreme On prom night at A.C. Reynolds in Asheville, 10 boys and 10 girls vied to be named prom king or queen. Enka High's Coaches of the Year

Former BCS Teacher Appointed to State Board of Education
A former Buncombe County Schools teacher and UNC Asheville educator has been nominated by Governor Roy Cooper to serve on the North Carolina State Board of Education. Ms. Byrd was a Clyde A. Erwin High School instructor from 1972 until 1977.

Junior Achievement
The young students at Avery's Creek Elementary are preparing to be productive citizens and they are having a lot of fun doing it! By partnering with the Junior Achievement (JA) organization, students worked together through games and activities designed to deepen understanding of financial literacy, workforce readiness, and entrepreneurship.
