Nick Lisenbee: WLOS Player of the Week
As reported by WLOS news: "North Buncombe senior running back Nick Lisenbee has been named News 13 Prep Player of the Week in prep football. Lisenbee rushed for 248 yards on 28 carries and scored 6 touchdowns in the Blackhawks 48-14 win over North Henderson... Lisenbee has gained 2,640 yards in his career." (Photo courtesy of WLOS.)

Charles D. Owen High Leads Way to Recycling
"Owen High School’s recycling program kept about 60,000 Styrofoam lunch trays out of the landfill last school year – a big part of why it was named an NC Green School of Quality by the NC Green Schools Program," reports the Black Mountain News.

Hominy Valley Visits 18th Century
At the second annual Camp Flintlock activity day, Hominy Valley Elementary fourth-graders enjoyed plenty of opportunities to roll their sleeves up and get creative with history. They also had a blast seeing a real cannon and musket (safely) fired on the playground!
