National Leaders: BCS Nutrition
We are thrilled that every one of our schools were recognized as national leaders in health and nutrition by the USDA! Additionally, eight of these schools earned the rare Gold Award of Distinction! Highway Patrol's Stop Arm Campaign
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol held their annual week-long Stop Arm Campaign to raise awareness and enforce stop arm and other traffic violations in and around school zones across the state.

Reynolds Soccer on Road to Championship
With two minutes left in the second overtime period, the Rockets secured a 3-3 tie against Asheville High, an ending which likely handed Reynolds the Western Mountain Athletic 3A Conference title.

Avery's Creek Greets Guatemala
Students at Avery's Creek Elementary spent the week learning about Guatemala and music thanks to a residency program made possible by LEAF Community Arts. The Guatemalan musicians wowed kids with their traditional songs and instruments, as well as stories of their home villages, giving them a glimpse of another side of the globe. Parkour Playground at North Windy Ridge
The students at North Windy Ridge Intermediate School are growing by leaps and bounds with their new Parkour Playground.
“They love it," said principal Brent Wise. "It’s fun, different and challenging for them. When they go out to recess, that’s the first place they want to go.”

School Celebration Singalong
Forlorn Strangers, from Nashville, helped William W Estes Elementary fourth-graders write a song about their school! The band was in town last week for the 45th LEAF festival. Third and fourth grade students joined the band on stage for a LEAF Schools and Streets performance on Saturday.
