Leicester P.E. Teacher Wins State Award
Leicester Elementary students are dancing their way to better health! Their P.E. teacher, Tammy Gregg, has been selected as the 2017 N.C. K-12 Dance Teacher of the Year by the North Carolina Alliance for Athletics, Health, P.E., Recreation, Dance, and Sport Management (NCAAHPERD). At least once a month, Gregg incorporates dance routines into her classes....

Mr. Jesse Quigley finds much of his inspiration in his students. He is a dedicated special education teacher at Avery's Creek Elementary and the Roberson District Teacher of the Year! Denise Montgomery, the school's Principal, describes Jesse as a "master teacher."

WLOS: Freshman an Integral Part of Rockets Football
Reynolds High freshman JD Jones was diagnosed at age five with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a genetic disorder characterized by progressive muscle degeneration and weakness. Since then, he has had many challenges, but nothing has stopped him or his love of football.

Conference Champs: Cane Creek Middle Vollyeball
Congratulations to Cane Creek Middle School's volleyball team! They are undefeated regular season conference champions with a record of 14-0 after their win last night over Erwin Middle! This is a new school record for volleyball at CCMS.

Owen Middle / Warren Wilson College Dedicate Mural
Charles D. Owen Middle School and Warren Wilson College dedicated a mural and plot of river cane in a ceremony at the middle school Wednesday afternoon. It was part of the Natural Impact Initiative, which aims to raise awareness about the heritage of the Swannanoa and Black Mountain valleys.
