Fall Walk for Young Leaders in Weaverville
Local businesses opened their doors to young leaders when kindergarteners and first-grade students from Weaverville Primary held their annual Fall Walk! It was a chance for students to see the inner workings of the town where their school is located and meet business owners and community helpers like fire fighters and police officers. The students added their own twist to the walk this year, by showcasing all they are learning from the Leader in Me program...

Here's what great teaching looks like in the Owen District! From Owen Middle School, Mr. Ryan McCormick was selected as the 2018 Owen District Teacher of the Year! The enthusiasm and mentorship he brings to his classroom is immediately evident, and he describes teaching as his "calling" and the "family profession."

The BCS Foundation and First Citizens Bank proudly recognized Leland Blankenship of Enka Middle School as the recipient of the BCS Principal of the Year award! Mr. Blankenship received a check and a plaque at last week's principal's meeting.

Rockets Soar to Top of Conference
In a heated rivalry match-up against the Rams, the Reynolds High Rockets launched all the way to their 24th straight win Friday night on the gridiron, clinching their third straight Mountain Athletic Conference title. Congratulations, Rockets! Learn all about their recent victory in this Citizen-Times article. Quarterback Alex Flinn was also named the WLOS ABC 13 Prep Player of the Week!

All-American Bowl Band
Two Buncombe County Schools band students have been selected for an elite performance. A. C. Reynolds High School senior Thomas “T.J.” Kane and North Buncombe High School senior Hayley Knighton will perform with band students from around the country during halftime at the 2018 U.S. Army All-American Bowl.

WLOS: Enka High Raises $10,000 for Charity
Blue hair, pumpkins, and $10,000 for Eblen Charities: The Jets at Enka High sure know how to have a good time! Every year, BCS students raise funds for Eblen Charities. Some students, such as those at W.D. Williams Elementary who raised $2,000, even got to throw a pie at their school's staff!

Citizen-Times: WMAC Volleyball Players & Coach of the Year
The Western Mountain Athletic Conference has released information about the volleyball players of the year, and the new coach of the year! Congratulations to student athletes Abby Krueger of T. C. Roberson High School and Kloyee Anderson of Enka High. The WMAC Coach of the Year is Ram's Coach Michelle Wagaman.
