Some of Western North Carolina’s finest young voices travelled to Wingate University to join the 2019 ninth and tenth grade All-Carolina Select Choir. The 140-singer group was composed of students from North and South Carolina, carefully selected from over 600 auditions. This year, ten students represented Buncombe County Schools on the stage.

The two-day gathering was led by award-winning composer and conductor Dr. Andrea Ramsey, pianist Mrs. Meagan Lacher, and clinicians Dr. Kenney Potter and Mr. Eric Wilkinson.

It was an experience the students will never forget, as they stood shoulder-to-shoulder with pitch-perfect peers and learned a variety of melodies, from classical Mozart to more recent compositions of Dr. Ramsey. To the delight of concert-goers, the festival culminated in a performance on Saturday, January 26, in the beautiful George A. Batte, Jr. Fine Arts Center.

We are immensely proud of our talented students for once again taking part in this annual tradition, and grateful to have such excellent music educators and opportunities here in Buncombe County Schools.
