Erwin Middle math students prepare a unique visual project for display at their school.By: Stacia Harris, Communications Dept.

Math students display their unique letter "E."Clyde A Erwin Middle school math students unveiled a unique addition to their school last weekend. Ms. Hodges' Math 1 class worked in collaboration with the UNC Asheville STEAM studio this year. Students designed a tessellated art project (A large red E to represent Erwin) using geometric concepts from their curriculum, then built their designs on the industrial equipment at UNCA's STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) studio. This provided a one-of-a-kind learning experience.

There is a custom "E" now mounted on the school's wall. This artwork represents a valuable collaboration with community partners like UNCA. It's a personal touch from students that will live on at the school long after students leave for high school.
