Celebrating National Board Certified Teachers
Celebrating National Board Certified Teachers
Posted on 03/02/2017
On Thursday, March 2, the Buncombe County School Board recognized our new and renewed National Board Certified Teachers!

Every 10 years, teachers have the opportunity to renew this prestigious certification by facing rigorous standards that evaluate their teaching practices. The process is difficult, but worthwhile, as teachers have called it a powerful professional development exercise that helps them master and reflect on the best approaches to teaching students.

"Every student deserves an accomplished teacher," says Associate Superintendent Susanne Swanger. "National Board Certification provides a tool for teachers and schools to define and measure excellence. This opportunity for self-reflection and professional growth shows in our teachers' daily work with students."

North Carolina ranks number 1 in the nation for the number of National Board Certified Teachers. Buncombe County Schools ranks 16th in the Nation.
