BCS high schools posted strong results at the Buncombe County Championships track and field meet, hosted by A.C. Reynolds High School on Wednesday.
The T.C. Roberson women smashed the team rankings with a score of 144.5. A.C. Reynolds High School came in second with 106 points. Here are the BCS first-place varsity finishes:
-- Elise Wright (Roberson) placed first in the women’s 800-meter run (2 minutes, 29.05 seconds).
-- Carolyn Diez (Reynolds) placed first in the women’s 100-meter hurdles (16.67 seconds).
-- Samuel Yoder (Reynolds) placed first in the men’s 300-meter hurdles (43.09 seconds)
-- T.C. Roberson women won the 4x100-meter relay with a time of 50.73 seconds.
-- A.C. Reynolds women won the 4x200-meter relay with a time of 1 minute, 57.88 seconds.
-- A.C. Reynolds women won the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4 minutes, 31.97 seconds.
-- T.C. Roberson women won the 4x800-meter relay with a time of 10 minutes, 16.84 seconds.
-- MaKena Phillips (Enka) placed first in the women’s high jump (5-feet-2-inches).
-- Henry Freeman (Roberson) placed first in the men’s pole vault (12 feet).
-- Chesney Gardner (Owen) placed first in the women’s discus throw (112-feet-2-inches).
-- Otis Mallory (Owen) placed first in the men’s shot put (43-feet-8-inches).
-- Daniel McDonald (North Buncombe) placed first in the men’s discus throw (110-feet-11-inches).
