NC Global Educator Digital Badge

The NC Global Educator Digital Badge (GEDB) is a micro-credential established in 2014 by the NC State Board of Education as an Action Item of one of their five Global Commitments.  It recognizes educators who have participated in 100 hours of global professional development and designed/implemented a Capstone Project-- a curriculum instructional unit based on their state content standards and global competencies. This is a distinguished honor vetted by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction, including state, district, and school-level review processes. Capstone Projects are located in a state repository called Schoolnet and available to all teachers in North Carolina.

Currently, 36 educators in Buncombe County Schools have begun the NC GEDB journey; teachers, a media specialist, a school social worker, instructional support staff, and administrators are pursuing this prestigious professional micro-credential which affirms their authentic global commitment to acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to embed global competencies in the curriculum to impact students' global awareness.
