Administration

Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists they become the best they can possibly be.

Ms. Andrea Britt, Principal

I was born and raised in eastern North Carolina and have lived in the Asheville area since 1997. My life has brought me various opportunities and experiences that have shaped my perspectives and allowed me to keep an open mind toward the students, families, and the school community.

I graduated from Gardner-Webb with my Master's degree in School Administration - Executive Leadership and served as an Assistant Principal at Clyde A. Erwin Middle School from 2015-2022. I graduated from Mars Hill University with a Bachelor's in Education and Business. My classroom experience was at A.C. Reynolds Middle School for English Language Arts and Social Studies from 2006-2015. In addition, I also had the pleasure of serving as an athletics coach for seven years, partnered with other educators for curriculum development, and served on various committees within Buncombe County Schools.

I am passionate about growing students to feel successful and be successful in whatever path they choose. I am student-driven; I have a firm belief in family first and believe in community. My role is to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families that help me decide and implement choices that will positively impact the entire school community. My goal is to provide a safe, respectful, and encouraging educational environment and implement rigorous and high-order instruction at Cane Creek Middle School.

I am excited to be a part of the Cane Creek family and look forward to an exciting 2024-2025 school year. Go Hurricanes!

Please contact me with accolades to our staff, concerns, or questions by email or telephone.

H. Rejzer

Mrs. Heather Rejzer

I am thrilled to serve full-time as an Assistant Principal at Cane Creek Middle School. I received my undergraduate and Master's degrees from Western Carolina University. I taught in Charlotte from 2001-2004, then moved with my husband back to the Asheville area. I am a proud graduate of A.C. Reynolds High School. When we moved back to the area, I was overjoyed to get a job at ACRMS in 2004, and taught there for 18 years. I began with 6th-grade math, then moved to 8th-grade. I also spent one semester in 7th grade. My family and I live here in the Fairview area, and both of my sons attended Cane Creek Middle.

I am excited to be continuing my administrative career here and serving our amazing community! My mission is supporting our staff who work daily with your student, helping build plans for students that support them, and finding ways to allow families to be a part of our educational community.

Mr. Norm Bossert

Mr. Norm Bossert

My name is Norm Bossert, and I am joining Cane Creek Middle School as an assistant principal. This year I begin my 50th year as a professional educator. I did try my best to retire in 2017, after having served as principal at Black Mountain Elementary for 11 years.

I first entered the workforce when I was 14. I worked as a busboy. I cleaned many a table and bathroom. Great fun? Nope! But I had a goal. I wanted a cherry red Gibson guitar and was willing to sacrifice weekend entertainment with friends to buy it! After about two years, I had finally saved up enough to make the purchase. I loved that sweet guitar. It took a long time because I only made 75 cents an hour for the privilege of going home greasy, dirty, and with a unique sort of odor!

After getting my guitar, I boastfully told my mother that I would be quitting my job. After all, I had achieved my goal. Mom put her hand on my shoulder... smiled, and said, “No, you’re not. In this family, once you start working, you don’t stop till you drop.” Oh, my!

So, as you can see, I have failed at retiring because of my mom! And I am grateful that I did. I come to Cane Creek with a lifetime of experiences. During my first 27 years, after graduating from Old Dominion University, I taught everything from kindergarten to twelfth grade. I have been, for the bulk of that time, a special educator. But I have coached varsity tennis and basketball, directed high school theatre programs, debate and speech, and so much more! To make ends meet I have been a security guard, professional actor, fast food guy, adjunct college faculty, etc. I have even run for public office.

As an administrator, I have worked in middle schools and elementary schools. So, I have been around and finally landed in this little piece of heaven . . . Cane Creek Middle. AND I get to work under the supervision of Andrea Britt and alongside Heather Rejzer. Clearly, I have landed in a great school community, with a strong staff, great kids, and a supportive family community.

I am here to support our kids, their teachers, and my administrative team. Please know that my door is always open; if you stop in, you’ll find my door open, and phone calls/emails will be responded to.

Looking forward to a great school year, I am.

Norm Bossert, AP
