Kim's distinguished 40-year career at Wells Fargo, culminating in her role as Senior Vice President before her retirement in 2018, provides a strong foundation for her board contributions. Kim consistently demonstrates insightful leadership and a deep dedication to public education.

Her passion for education is evident in her service as a substitute teacher in the Erwin District, a testament to her long-standing involvement in local schools. This includes active participation in organizations such as the Emma PTO and Advisory Council, Erwin High School and Erwin Middle Advisory Council, Erwin Youth League and the Erwin Booster Club. Furthermore, she has contributed significantly to the Buncombe County Teacher of the Year and WNC Principal of the Year selection committees. This extensive involvement reflects a keen understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing our local education system. Currently, she serves on the Buncombe County Schools Foundation Board, Mountain Child Advocacy Board, and is a member of the Children’s Welfare League.

Kim's commitment extends to her family, actively supporting her Erwin Warriors!  Her strong ties to Erwin, shared with her husband Chip (an Erwin High School alumnus), and their sons Wes and Tyler (also Erwin High School graduates), further solidify her connection to the community. Wes, formerly a coach at Erwin Middle  and North Buncombe High Schools, now serves as a business teacher and head baseball coach at Smoky Mountain High School. His wife Lindsey also works for Jackson County Schools. Her grandchildren Lane and Banksley are very athletic and Kim and Chip also enjoy watching their sporting events. Her son Tyler is well known in the hair industry, winning several awards for his work and design. Kim often relaxes with her family at the beach.
