Buncombe County Schools Virtual Academy (BCSVA) may be an online school, but students and families have lots of opportunities to spend time together.
BCSVA elementary students met in Mars Hill on Jan. 29 for hours of fun at Zip N Slip Snow Tubing Park. They raced each other down seven tubing runs while family members chatted by a fire and occasionally took to the slopes themselves.
“It was a zip-load of fun,” said instructional assistant Dr. Vicki Landolf. “It gets our kids together face to face where they can strengthen their connections.”
The tubing trip was one of many BCSVA in-person events. The school offers astronomy field trips, game cafes, bowling, service learning projects, clubs, college visits, and more.
“We’re all about building relationships and connections here,” said third and fourth grade teacher Kim Ransom. “Trips like this help build our school community.”
