Buncombe County Schools Virtual Academy (BCSVA) students gathered at the East Asheville Library for a whimsical celebration of Read Across America Week, honoring the beloved Dr. Seuss. The event brought stories to life with creative activities, laughter, and a love for reading.

Students explored hands-on stations making their own Lorax crafts, decorating silly socks inspired by “Fox in Socks,” and designing bookmarks. At the end, students enjoyed sitting around and listening to classic Dr. Seuss tales, their imaginations soaring with every rhyme.

Parents love the local field trips and events put on by BCSVA, as well as their love for the school itself.

“This school has been a huge benefit to my child,” said grandparent Kendra Clopton. “We love being able to come to events like this, and have the opportunity to connect. There’s many aspects of Virtual Academy that have benefited my daughter, and this is what suits her.”

To top off the festivities, each child received a book to take home, ensuring the magic of reading continued beyond the event.

With smiles, creativity, and plenty of rhymes, the celebration was a success - proving that “the more you read, the more things you know!”
