On Saturday, members of the Student Government Association rolled up their sleeves and gave back to the community through a volunteer service project at Appalachian Community Relief in Black Mountain. The group spent the day assisting at a local distribution site, where they helped sort and stock donated food and household supplies for families in need across the region.
The experience was both meaningful and eye-opening for the students who participated.
Appalachian Community Relief is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing essential resources to underserved mountain communities in western North Carolina. Volunteers play a vital role in keeping their shelves stocked and their outreach programs running smoothly.
This project was part of Student Government’s larger goal this year to encourage more community engagement and service learning among students.
The next student volunteer opportunity will take place in May, with more details to be announced soon. Students who are interested in joining future service projects are encouraged to keep an eye on the Bear Tracks weekly newsletter and the Student Government announcements in our weekly Advisory meetings.
Student Government’s volunteer events are a great way to get involved. We're proud of our Black Bears!
