Mr. Bright has been an educator since 1995. He received his bachelor's degree from the College of Charleston, after which he received his EDS in School Administration from The Citadel. Prior to working for Buncombe County Schools, Mr. Bright had been a special education teacher and assistant principal. He has been principal of Koontz Intermediate School since 2017.

Since moving to the Asheville area in 2005 with his now wife Amy, Mr. Cowan has been committed to the T.C. Roberson Community and he is proud to be a RAM.

Prior to becoming an Assistant Principal in 2013 at Charles T. Koontz Intermediate School, Mr. Cowan taught fifth grade ELA/Social Studies for two years at Koontz and the same subjects at Valley Springs Middle School from 2005-2011.

He also coached softball at Valley Springs from 2006-07 and football from 2005-2009, serving as the Head Football Coach from 2007-2009.

From 1997-2005, he taught third and fifth grades at two schools in Virginia, Waller Mill Elementary School in Williamsburg and Laurel Ridge Elementary School in Fairfax, which happened to feed Robinson High School, who are also the Rams and blue and gold.

He attended Old Dominion University and completed a Bachelor's Degree in History and a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Duquesne University, and later earned a Certificate in Educational Leadership from Western Carolina University.

Mr. Cowan was born and raised in Western Pennsylvania just north of Pittsburgh and is a fan of all Pittsburgh sports teams, the Grateful Dead, and Widespread Panic.  He lives with Amy and their daughter Annalee.

After receiving a B.S. degree in Communication Disorders at the University of Central Florida, Mr. Lister acquired his Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Florida State University.  He started his Ed.S. Educational Leadership degree at University of South Florida before finishing it at Western Carolina University. 

 After graduating, he worked for 3 years in his hometown of St. Petersburg, FL, in several medical settings and at Sanders Exceptional School as a Speech-Language Pathologist.  Mr. Lister started with Buncombe County Schools in 2002 as a Speech-Language Pathologist at Oakley Elementary School. In 2007, he transitioned to work in leadership as Assistant Principal in several different schools in elementary, intermediate, middle and high school levels.

He is proud to be a Ram. He and his wife have 2 sons currently attending UNC Chapel Hill after graduating from TC Roberson High School and Nesbitt Academy. His family enjoys taking their beagle/blue heeler hiking.
