BCS Pre-K Meal Information
Families are invited to send in packed lunches for children. You may also choose a lunch prepared by the high school cafeteria for children for a fee and served in the preschool center. All lunches and water bottles must include the child’s name and the day’s date. No food should be placed in the child’s cubby. The center will not allow the child to eat non-nutritional items. Foods such as potato chips, candies, cakes, cookies, and fruit juices with less than 100% real fruit juice are not permitted in the center on non-special occasions. There is no need to pack utensils, as this will also be provided for your child through the cafeteria. The North Carolina preschool regulations state that a child must be offered milk, or a milk substitute, (ex. rice or almond milk) when eating lunch. If you send in a drink with your child that is not milk, we are required to offer them milk from our cafeteria. All students will receive morning and afternoon snacks.
You can set your child’s lunch account up with BCS Student Nutrition at their website.
*If you need your child's UID # please reach out to the preschool director
Snacks
Children are provided with a morning snack and afternoon snack. Some sites may ask for family donations of snacks, others may use the food provided by child nutrition, it is up to each classroom to decide. The snack menu is posted in the center each week. Snacks follow the recommended nutritional guidelines and include fruits, vegetables, breads/ cereals, protein, and dairy items. All snacks must contain two of these components. Parents are also invited, but not required, to purchase healthy snack items for the class. Due to licensing regulations no home-baked goodies may be sent in for special occasions, but store manufactured products can be shared with the students. Parents are encouraged to participate and are welcome to attend these special occasions with their children.
