Students may be out of school for the summer, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to eat healthy meals every day. The Summer Meals Program helps to bridge the gap and keeps kids healthy and strong every day. Buncombe County Schools collaborates with community organizations such as the YMCA and Asheville Parks & Recreation campers to assist in providing these meals.
We are excited about this collaboration because it pulls the community together for one common goal: to keep children from going hungry. Buncombe County Schools Nutrition has received multiple USDA awards in previous summers, and we look forward to carrying on the great tradition of feeding the children of Buncombe County over the summer months under our hashtag #feedingbuncombekids.
Summer Meals must be consumed at congregate meal sites.
What are congregate meals? Meals that must be consumed at the site location.
