Johnston Elementary School recently held their annual community day!
Teachers and administrators brought the celebration to a nearby apartment complex and got to connect with students and families while enjoying some fun in the summer sun. Everyone cooled off with free Kona Ice snow cones, and the Asheville Fire Department was there spraying water from one of the bright red fire trucks for kids to splash in. Staff handed out books to curious readers and organized a competitive game of ring-toss complete with fun prizes.
The event wrapped up a week of preparation by Johnston’s teachers and staff to be ready for the school year. While the teachers said they enjoyed the rest of the retreat, being with students, families, and the community was the event they looked forward to the most.
