As temperatures drop and we transition to the winter season, our transportation department is making sure our school buses are ready to roll, no matter the weather!
All of our school bus drivers are in the process of training to use snow chains on their bus tires. We stopped by Eblen Intermediate recently as drivers got a refresher on how to install and remove the chains.
“We know the weather in Western North Carolina can change fast and affect parts of our county differently,” said Jeremy Stowe, Director of Transportation. “Safety is our top priority as we bring students to and from school. By revisiting this important training, we can ensure our buses can still roll even if they get caught in unexpected snowfall.”
BCS maintains a fleet of over 200 buses that travel almost 16,000 miles each day carrying approximately 11,000 students.
