Happy National School Counselors Week!
We are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our school counselors, Ms. Hensley and Ms. Davis! These ladies play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, emotional, and personal development of our students. They provide guidance, support and encouragement to our staff and families as well.
Ms. Hensley and Ms. Davis - your commitment to the well-being and success of our students is appreciated!

Across the grade levels ACES students worked on coding in the media center this week. Kindergarten and first grade coded BeeBots, second grade used tiles to code Osmo on the iPads and third and fourth grades coded Spheros using block coding. In a world driven by technology, teaching kids to code in elementary school isn't just an option; it's essential! Here's why:
Critical Thinking Skills: Coding encourages logical thinking and problem-solving from an early age, fostering a mindset of innovation and creativity.
Digital Literacy: In today's digital landscape, understanding how technology works is as crucial as reading and writing. Coding provides the foundation for this literacy.
Empowerment: Learning to code empowers kids to become creators rather than just consumers of technology. It instills confidence and a sense of capability in navigating the digital world.
Collaboration & Communication: Coding projects often require teamwork, encouraging kids to communicate effectively, collaborate, and share ideas—a vital skill set for their future endeavors.
Global Connection: Coding is a universal language that transcends borders. It connects kids with peers worldwide, fostering a sense of global citizenship and collaboration.
Teaching our kids coding equips our students with the 21st century skills they need to thrive in today's world. #BCS #ACES #BCSfamily

ACES 1st graders (and some lucky kindergarteners) had an amazing time today learning about our feathered, scaled and furry WNC friends! The WNC Nature Center came to the ACES media center to teach our students about local animals' behaviors, habitats and features. This hands-on experience was a wonderful way to connect what 1st graders have been learning about "Creature Features" to the real life animals around us. #ACES #BCSfamily #handsonlearning

ACES just wrapped up an amazing PBIS celebration! We honored our students who modeled the ACES character traits from the last three months and then we turned the gym into a dance floor and grooved our way through a fantastic dance party! Students had so much fun drawing on the hallway graffiti wall! The energy was contagious, and it was heartwarming to see our students having a blast while celebrating positive behavior. 🌟 Big shoutout to all the teachers, staff, and students who made this day a memorable one! 🙌 Let's keep spreading joy and positivity throughout our school community! 🌈 #PBIScelebration #DancePartyFun #PositiveBehaviorInSchools #SchoolSpirit #ACES #BCSfamily
