Four amazing Koontz Intermediate students traveled to Winston-Salem on November 4-5 to participate in the North Carolina Elementary Honors Chorus. Their audition tapes were scored by a blind audition process considering 5 categories: Tone Quality, Pitch Accuracy/Intonation, Rhythmic Accuracy, Diction (Vowel Purity, Consonant Clarity), and Musicality/interpretation. Even though hundreds of audition tapes are sent in across the state, typically the judges select around 175 students to perform. These students learned 6 new pieces of music and spent their Saturday working with a nationally renowned choral clinician to refine their music before their concert on Sunday.
Congratulations to Mona Lobera-Arteaga, Eli Cook, Layla Jensen, and Estella Helms!
