💦Kids can agree on one thing - it’s always fun to see those you look up to doused in bright-green slime. Therefore, for Leicester Elementary students, the grand prize for their PTO fundraiser was to soak their principal, Mr. Chad Upton and their beloved and retiring PE teacher, Ms. Tammy Gregg, in slime. Mr. Upton’s sliming was predetermined, but Ms. Gregg was added in by request of the students after they raised a record amount of money this year.
Mr. Upton, clad in a bright yellow raincoat, and Ms. Gregg, both with goggles and ponchos, took their sliming in stride to cheers of a gym full of excited students.
The event wrapped up with a dance party and a tasty visit from the Kona Ice truck.
Students earned this fun and messy prize for all of their hard work fundraising this year for the PTO. Students brought in almost $19,000- a school record!
“We are so proud of them for working hard to raise this record amount of money,” said PTO president Donna Rhinehart.
Students raised the money by filling in a calendar - each day of the month, an adult in their life pledged a donation to the school. Students that had a full month filled on their calendars were able to get a bag of special prizes. The funds will be spent on various improvement projects around the school, as well as supplies.
