The Boy Scouts of America Daniel Boone Council surprised Estes Elementary principal Jay Dale this morning with a special honor.
Scouting representatives James Hylemon and Reed Bilbray presented Mr. Dale with the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Award. He was selected for his encouragement and support of scouts both in his current role as principal of Estes, and in his previous role as principal of Haw Creek Elementary. Mr. Dale was nominated by families for modeling positive values and community service for his students.
The unsuspecting Mr. Dale received his award at a surprise ceremony during the Roberson District Advisory Council meeting, where he was celebrated by students, parents, fellow principals and other BCS teammates.
