Students in the Foods and Nutrition class at Erwin Middle School are literally enjoying a smash success. 

Two students mash apples in the Erwin foods labWhile teaching her 7th graders about kitchen safety, cutlery skills, and appliance usage, Becca Letterman challenged students to make a homemade tasty applesauce. They used fruit peelers, kitchen knives, and learned the difference between immersion and commercial blenders. 

At the end of class, students enjoyed sampling their creation.
