At Haw Creek Elementary School, Ms. Sandra Thompson’s fifth-grade students created a “genius” mosaic with Rubik’s Cubes.
Over the last several weeks, students solved one face on each of 225 Rubik’s Cubes to create “pixels” that formed an image of the world-renowned theoretical physicist Albert Einstein. On Wednesday, they assembled their completed mosaic in a custom-built wooden frame.
“It’s really cool to see the picture come together after working on all the little pieces,” said Ruth, one of the students.
“It’s also really fun to work together with a bunch of other people to make the finished product,” added Emma. “It’s rewarding and cool how just turning some cubes can make a picture.”
