A popular tradition made a grand return to Fairview Elementary (FES). The FES Dad’s Club (a dad-run organization aimed at helping with projects around FES and bringing fathers closer to their children’s school.) hosted the annual daddy/daughter and mother/son dance this month. This year’s theme was a little different than years past.
“It was so exciting to get back in person and allow so many moms and dads to make memories with their kids,” said FES Dad’s Club President Brian Fuchs. “We try to use a different theme each dance and this year we decided to make it less formal with a ‘Let's Glow Crazy’ theme.”
For many years now this event has been a tradition at FES. Every spring the students and parents look forward to a fun filled evening. It helps to bring the school community closer together, and it helps families build stronger relationships with each other.
“All of the events we do as a Dads Club have the main focus of getting kids and parents together,” said Mr. Fuchs. “The Daddy Daughter dance had over 300 people attend...that's a lot of dads walking into the school that may not otherwise do so. The memories made will last a lifetime. Fairview is such a diverse community, and it is just great to see us all come together.”
The FES Dad’s Club has grown in popularity over the years. This club has helped bring many people from different backgrounds together. Mr. Fuchs says growing the school community of togetherness is what it’s all about.
“We love to see the diversity of one dad wearing a three piece suit next to another dressed the part of a construction worker,” Mr. Fuchs explained. “There's not many places you can go today where all are accepted so freely, and all are encouraging to one another. We need more of this, and are proud that the FES Dads Club can play a small role in making this type of atmosphere available.”
