Sixth graders at A.C. Reynolds Middle School (ACRMS) had a unique opportunity to talk and learn from an American diplomat on October 10, 2022. Diplomats are stationed around the globe representing the United States. Oscar Weinmeister is a diplomat working in Jordan, but during a short visit home to North Carolina he made a stop at ACRMS to speak to students. He demonstrated his knowledge of Arabic and taught them a little about the culture he experiences in Jordan. Visits like this provide a unique and enlightening experience for students, said sixth grade English Language Arts teacher Amy Weinmeister.
“Students do not regularly have interactions with members of the diplomatic community or are able to travel and experience different languages and cultures of the world,” she said. “The students enjoyed hearing about Oscar’s life and career.”
