Listening and Learning at Pisgah

On Wednesday, Dr. Rob Jackson completed his seventh full-day school visit; he spent the day at Pisgah Elementary School.

Located in the Enka District, Pisgah Elementary School was established in 1951 and is nestled in the valley below the beautiful Mount Pisgah. The school currently enrolls about 170 students in kindergarten through fourth grade and employs 52 staff members. Pisgah was named a National Blue Ribbon School in 2016. Students can participate in a variety of clubs such as Garden Club, Chorus Club, Bricks4Kidz, and will offer Mathletes and Recess Club in the spring. Pisgah brings culture to the students through programs like LEAF Global Arts that connect cultures through educational experiences. Students also spend time each week in their STEM lab solving engineering problems through collaboration.

“As a former student, I am most proud of the reputation Pisgah continues to have,” said Principal Katie Harris. “Pisgah is known for its rich tradition of community and family involvement. The teachers and staff of Pisgah are relentless in ensuring all student needs are met. The school partners with community members to offer multiple clubs and cultural opportunities to enhance their educational experience. What makes Pisgah special are the people and students that make up our school and community. It’s a rich multigenerational community that embraces its past while welcoming new members. The teachers and staff are willing to do anything and all to maximize the success of every student - we serve food, drive busses, and keep the school clean or whatever is needed - we are ‘All In!’”
