Dr. Rob Jackson continued his #45SchoolsIn45Days full day visits to all of our campuses. Tuesday’s stop was Buncombe County Early and Middle Colleges
Buncombe County Early College and Buncombe County Middle College are located on the campus of AB Tech. These are distinctive, application-based programs for students in grades 9 through 13. Middle College was established in 2003; Early College in 2005.
These small, innovative schools set expectations high for all students, with an accelerated approach that blends high school with college. Students have the opportunity to graduate with a high school diploma and an associate’s degree or career credential– all tuition-free for families.
“Early College is special because students can graduate with a diploma and an associate's degree and, more importantly, are ready to thrive in our community and beyond,” said Principal Dr. Donna Lanahan. “Our students are supported to develop a personalized pathway that fits their goals, and our mission is that they are well-prepared for whatever comes next on that path. Middle College is special because it is a bridge to opportunity for any student in 11th or 12th grade who may need a change. We offer a small, supportive setting where students can reset or redefine their academic pathway, while also accessing the options available to them on the community college campus.”
