Visually Impaired

Visual impairment, including blindness, means an impairment in vision that, even with correction, adversely affects a child's educational performance. The term includes both partial sight and blindness.

Services could include:

  • compensatory functional academics, including braille and other communication modes

  • orientation and mobility

  • recreation and leisure skills

  • social interaction skills

  • independent living skills

  • career education

  • use of assistive technology

  • visual efficiency skills
